Salaam/Peace,
Years ago I learned a philosophy that has served my family and I well. That philosophy is summed up in 3 words: 'Faith, Family, Finances'. This has served me by reminding me of priorities and things of which I must be aware. [Click here to watch Video]
I don't come from a privileged background where my family environment was mainly encouraging and nurturing, it was quite the opposite. Experiencing this as a boy caused me to form some rather strong ideas of what I'd like my family to be like when i was a husband and father.
After making the decision to marry when I was 19, I knew that the decisions I made would shape the type of family I was to grow. I knew I wanted to be different, I desired to raise a family who knew they were loved, valued, and nurtured but also was challenged to grow. Not having the tools led me to utilize some of the business training I'd received and make some adjustments so that it'd fit my family.
I'd learned how to build a team culture as a leader in business and applied some of the same concepts to my home life. It wasn't surprising to see it working and shaping the culture and cultivating the type of atmosphere I desired for my family. [Click here to learn how I do it]
I learned how conducting regular business meeting could determine what areas were thriving and what areas needed attention. How those meeting could recognize who needed training and what should be focused on to achieve the company's mission. I applied what I learned to my family life and it has allowed us to accelerate our growth and goal achievement. It has proved especially helpful when practicing polygyny.
I recorded a short video about some of our family traditions including what we say at the beginning of our family meetings. I'd encourage you to check it out and see whether or not starting your own family traditions would be of benefit to your most important relationships.
